Supporting Neurodivergent Colleagues In The Workplace
This interactive workshop is designed to build awareness, understanding, and confidence in supporting neurodivergent colleagues — particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Through a blend of expert input, discussion, and scenario-based group work, participants will explore both the legal responsibilities and practical strategies that create an equitable and inclusive working environment for all.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:
-
Describe how different people’s brains work using key neurodiversity descriptors.
-
Identify the most common types of neurodivergence.
-
Explain both the legal (UK) and moral responsibilities organisations have in accommodating neurodivergence.
-
Summarise the key characteristics and presentations of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
-
Apply inclusive thinking and identify practical actions that can be taken to support autistic and ADHD colleagues in common workplace situations.
Interactive Groupwork
It is encouraged to make these scenarios bespoke to the client, and depending on the group
size 4-5 scenarios are needed per workshop.
Examples of scenarios that could be used (but the options are endless):
-
You are putting a training plan in place for an ADHD or Autistic employee, what considerations should you make.
-
You are taking your team to an offsite location for a team building day- one of the team is Autistic or has ADHD what should you consider?
-
You are looking at your physical work environment, what accommodations might you need to make for an Autistic or ADHD colleague?
-
There is going to be an announcement about changes to team structure/policies/work environment/a persons job tasks (select one) what do you need to consider for the Autistic or ADHD colleague?
-
Your Autistic or ADHD employee is required to travel to visit customers and hold meetings/do presentations- how will you support them to do this?
